Classroom with smart board and AC
GPSIOAM has three modern Smart Classrooms equipped with audio-visual equipment to enable faculty to conduct classes in an effective manner. The classrooms also have a DVD/CD playing facility with good audio systems. Additionally, the white boards make the learning experience complete. Each classroom is acoustically designed for soundproof with a seating capacity of 42 students and is fully air-conditioned.


It has a capacity for 150, with modern visual aids, excellent acoustics and AC. Attached to it is a pantry.


The institute has a NABL accredited laboratory attached to it with excellent facilities for soil, water, manure, fertilizer, pesticide analysis. The students are trained here in all aspects in sophisticated instrument Analytical Balance, Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, EC TDS Analyser, Kjeldahl Distillation Assembly etc.


Library has > 1000 books and about 50 reputed Journals. It has the following features: Open Access Systems, Content Page service for current journals, Bibliographical search service from Library as well as from other resources, Inter library loan facility for library users, Internet search facility, Document Delivery Service, Network Based Service, Digital and E-Resource Services, Library orientation to users, Reprographic services, Short-term borrowing facilities for reference books Newspaper clipping services, OPAC Service, Reference Service, Full text databases.
Virtual labs are used to supplement the conventional labs. National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NME-ICT) is accessed through SAKSHAT portal. Students are sensitized about students’ corner of this portal. The other portal like ‘career counselling’ in SAKSHAT is also accessed by the students. Consortium for Educational Communication (e-CEC) is also accessed by the faculty and students. Open Educational resources like The Assayer, OpenStax of Rice University, Flat world Knowledge, Wiki Books, OER Commons, MERLOT, MIT Courseware, MOOCs like Coursera, Udacity and Edx are also accessed by the faculty for classroom teaching. Students are encouraged to register for MOOCs courses and teachers act as facilitators.


An exclusive 35 acres of land has been made available for the practicals. One acre for every ten students is made available. The farm is equipped with latest machinery and agro-meteorology tools. The land has excellent ground water, supplemented by good water harvest technology. 75% of land is under drip irrigation and remaining are rainfed facilitating both kinds of agriculture. There is an excellent polyhouse of 1 Acre capacity growing coloured capsicums and exotic vegetables to enable students to learn latest techniques in green house technologies.
The farm is an integrated farming system consisting of a dairy with 100 cows of exotic and indigenous breed. To support the dairy there is an excellent silage unit with fodder hydroponic as supplementary foods. The cow dung is used very productively as organic manure and vermicompost in the farm. In addition, there are sheep, poultry, rabbit, inland fisheries etc. Farm also has a big unit of integrated organic manure production using coir pith, vermicompost, microbial consortia. This is south India’s biggest organic manure unit. A part of the farm is maintained as organic, certified by IMO. The students get excellent hands-on experience in all these areas.
At any given point of time farm would have 20-25 crops. The same farm also attracts large number of school students who are taken round the farm as part of the institute’s agri-tour programme. The farm also has an apiculture unit. The farm has woody natural refugia, and more than 50 birds have been recorded here, as part of the Bioversity International Project.


As the course is planned for a complete residential training, fully furnished hostel facilities are provided. The present hostel supports 120 students, with a separate provision for girl students.
Some features of the hostel:

  • Separate hostel for boys and girls.
  • Hostel facilities are on sharing basis, 2 or 4 students per room depending upon the size of the room.
  • Hostel accommodation is supported by wardens round the clock.
  • Hostel facilities available only on course duration basis.
  • Hostel fee is collected before the commencement of the course.
  • CCTV monitoring and safety are ensured
  • Food court is attached to the hostels.
Mess Mess consist of a food court with attached modern kitchen to serve nutritious, hot and hygienic food. RO drinking water is available 24X 7. The national and international students are housed in the same hostel. Warden A fulltime warden is available in the hostel. The duty of the warden will be to ensure students are looked after as per the rules of the hostel. Medical Facility Doctor is available on call round the clock. All the students during their admission to the hostel should submit their medical fitness certificate.


Canteen
In the ground floor highly hygienic and balanced food is prepared. It is endeavour of GPSIOAM to provide balanced food to student to facilitate overall growth of student. Canteen also has an exclusive elevator to lift food to food court in a dust free manner. There is a snack bar in campus on the ground floor which function’s from 08:00 A.M. to 08:00 P.M. and sells at reasonable rate cookies, condiments, sweets, flavoured milk, ice cream etc for the students. There is a generator maintained for 24 X 7 supply of electricity as Bangalore is prone to power cut. Wi-fi enabled campus.
